Dr. John Frauens earned his doctor of medicine at the Temple University School of Medicine, prior to which he had received a bachelor of science at Temple University in physical therapy. Later, he completed a fellowship in orthopedic rehabilitation in conjunction with the University of Virginia Orthopedic Residency Program, a research-intensive program with an emphasis on adult reconstructive surgery and artificial joints. Dr. John Frauens spent more than two decades as an orthopedic surgeon at the Kaiser Hawaii Permanente Medical Group in Honolulu, where he maintained responsibility for several critical surgical areas including hip and knee replacement as well as general musculoskeletal surgical oncology. Later, he worked as an orthopedic consultant for the Division of Corrections at the State of Hawaii Public Safety.
Dr. John Frauens currently leads his research development firm, SoftJoint, Inc., in Honolulu, Hawaii. He also volunteers his time in working with incarcerated persons. In addition, he makes time for a variety of hobbies and interests including muscle cars, Pittsburgh Steelers football, and travel. An avid traveler, he has visited countries such as Japan, Australia, and England.
